The seventy year old drug dealer

The seventy year old drug dealer

A seventy year old pensioner has been jailed for two years for dealing in heroin from his back garden. But you would not have believed it, if you had been outside the crown court in Swansea, Wales, because he turned up dressed in a black dinner suit and a bow tie!

The police had found a tin buried inside the compost heap at the end of his garden, inside it contained eighteen heroin wraps, these are handy parcels to sell the drug by. But, Griffith Mortimer Davies from Penlan, South Wales denied selling the drugs and claimed that he was just looking after the tin for a friend.

However after refusing to name who the drugs belonged to, it looked as if the case only had one way to go. No doubt after seeing how he was dressed and of course listening to all the evidence, the jury found him guilty there really was no other possible outcome, despite the best attempts by his defence to get it him off going to prison.

Sentencing Davies, Judge Keith Thomas said: "Heroin in our communities is perhaps the most serious problem that we have to face in today's life."

"He was convinced Davies began dealing in the drug to fund his gambling habits."

Heroin is a class A drug in the UK and will mean that anyone found dealing in it will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and three years for this offence is about right.
